    Creagh says the idea for the project came from a series of felt-tip pen drawings she had made. "For years I had been doodling ‘flowers’, a collection of overlapping circles which, once I had started I discovered everywhere;

    Now here’s a title that defied argument. I’ve never visited the Chelsea Flower Show, but I’m prepared to bet it contains no suicidal Japanese writers or tempestuous flower-decked diaries, and precious few pickled plants either, come to that.

'Flowers' at The Little Black Gallery

E10.1

Lisa Creagh & Hiroyuki Arakawa, 30 April to 1 June 2013 at The Little Black Gallery

A new joint exhibition will be opening at The Little Black Gallery on the 30th April of my latest work alongside the work of renowned flower photographer, Hiroyuki Arakawa. This show will also feature a conversation between myself and writer Sarah Salway, who has produced a 'Writing in the Garden' project for the Chelsea Fringe.

Based in Japan, Hiroyuki's 'flowers' series are an intimate study of white flowers, including Tea Roses, Orchids and Astor Lilies. He began the collection in honour of his mother –a traditional Master of Flower Arrangement and the Tea Ceremony. The images were used by designer Yohji Yamamoto on his dresses and skirts for his 2011/12 collection shown in Paris.

Flowers runs from 30 April to 1 June 2013 as part of Chelsea Fringe 2013, to coincide with Chelsea Flower Show. The show is sponsored by Scent by Design who will transform the gallery into a floral heaven, with a
pop-up shop from 21-25 May at The Little Black Gallery.
