Biography

Lisa with Primroses by Neeta MadaharLisa Creagh graduated from Goldsmiths in 1994, and more recently, with a Masters in Photography from Brighton University. Between 1997 and 2001 she lived and worked as an artist in New York, teaching digital imaging and curating exhibitions. Upon her return she cofounded The Brighton Photo Fringe in 2003, a vital network of photographers, still running in conjunction with the Brighton Photo Biennial.

Creagh's Conceptual art training underpins the sensorial aspects of her technique. Her work centres around dialogues between the mediums of photography, digital imaging and painting. An accomplished painter, she began her career producing photorealistic oils created from analogue photocollage, before moving to an exclusively digital output in 2000.

Her work has often been collaborative in nature: as a producer and curator she has delivered large-scale photographic projects for international artists and delivered talks  at various colleges. In 2006 she received critical acclaim for the originality of ‘Tidy Street’ where she collaborated with residents to transform a street in Brighton in to a series of lightboxes utilizing the windows of small terraced houses. More recently she has collaborated with Lucila Newell (Sociologist), Mike Barrett (Glassmaker) and Helen Wilson (Composer) on the Holding Time project,.

Prior to her MA she was awarded two Arts Council, England Individual Artists Awards for exhibitions, reviewed in photographic journals and featured on television and radio. 'The Instant Garden', begun in 2008 was awarded a development grant by The Arts Council of England in 2010 and is still exhibited widely. It is featured in a new book by Phaidon on the subject of art and botany. Her new work, Holding Time has been exhibited several times in 2018 and has attracted the attention of hospitals, health practitioners and medical researchers, featuring in this years IBCLC and LCGB conferences.
